The Strokes To Open for Petty

Everybody’s favorite New York rockers, The Strokes, will be opening up for Tom Petty in the fall, as his ‘Highway Companion Tour’ continues. Stevie Nicks, who was a “surprise” guest on the first eight shows of the tour, will return in that capacity for the second and third legs of the tour. Nicks will join Petty and the Heartbreakers during their set for a handful of songs, including “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” Frank Black and John Mayer will also support Petty on some selected dates

On July 25, “Highway Companion,” Petty’s third solo and 18th overall career disc, will be released (American Recordings/Warner Bros. Records). The album was produced by Jeff Lynne with Petty and Mike Campbell, and features twelve new Petty compositions.
