Much like the Grammys, the Juno Awards are a fairly horrible gauge of actual talent in the music industry. This year, the one category with nominees who actually deserve the recognition is Alternative Album Of The Year. The nominees are:

Skelliconnection – Chad VanGaalen (Flemish Eye*Outside)

Sometimes – City and Colour (Dine Alone*Universal)

Return To The Sea – Islands (Equator*EMI)

Trompe-l’Oeil – Malajube (Dare To Care*Outside)

Not Saying/Just Saying – Shout Out Out Out Out (Normals Welcome*Warner)

The big suprise this year is, of course, Malajube who garnered three nominations total (Best Alternative Album, Best Francophone Album, Best CD/DVD Artwork) only one of which was in a French language category.
