New Yorker Festival Full Schedule

New Yorker Festival

This just in…

Tickets to all New Yorker Festival events may be purchased beginning on Saturday, September 15th, at 12 noon E.T. Tickets to hot events will sell out on Saturday, September 15th at 12:00:01 PM. The usual suspects are back of course — Lahiri, Lethem, Smith, Safran Foer, Franzen, Rushdie and Amis are among those whose names are permanently etched on the New Yorker Festival program. Orhan Pamuk is a nice addition to the list and there are, of course, many other fine authors slated to appear, most of whose names I recognize, but a few that I don’t.

The obvious instant sell out event (to me) is Sigur Rós at Florence Gould Hall. The Heroes panel featuring Tim Kring and Jonathan Lethem will be gone in a flash too, as will the “It Comedy Panel” featuring Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow. The Jenji Kohan, David Milch et al panel will be a hot ticket as well, I’m sure. I mean, pretty much everything sells out at the New Yorker Festival and fast, so if you plan on going at all, I suggest being real close to your computer on Saturday the 15th. Mark it on your calendars folks, (or prepare to be paying the piper on Craigslist).

As an aside, certainly some of these events are special, but as New Yorkers, we have a lot to choose from. If you pay attention to things going on about town, you can surely see most, if not all, of these authors read (and often for free) at Barnes & Noble, the 92nd St Y, or some other literary event in the city. Keep your eyes peeled folks, the New Yorker Festival, good as it may be each year, is far from the only game in town.

The full meal deal after the jump.
