Josh Groban Is Elvis Like (Thanks to Oprah)

I must admit, I didn’t even know this record was out.

Josh Groban has tied Elvis Presley for the most consecutive weeks on the top of the Billboard chart for a Christmas album. His “Noël” (Reprise) is at No. 1 for the third week in a row, selling 581,000 copies in the week that ended on Sunday… [NYTimes]

Two weeks ago, Grammy-nominated baritone Josh Groban appeared on Winfrey’s afternoon talk show and performed a few numbers from his latest, the holiday-themed Noël — an album Oprah endorsed as “the one Christmas CD every family should have.” And it seems every member of her audience listened, since one week later, sales of Groban’s disc swelled by 81 percent (to close at 405,000 and change), finally landing the title atop Billboard’s weekly albums sales chart.
