2008 babyGap & GapKids Casting Call and Photo Tour

UPDATE: If you have not heard by now (11/16/08), your child is NOT a finalist in the 2008 babyGap & GapKids Casting Call contest.

GapKids and babyGap Casting Call

It’s been a long lonely year of waiting, but the annual babyGap and GapKids Casting Call is finally here again. To enter your adworthy offspring (because hey, what kid isn’t model cute) in this year’s online contest, go to gap.com/castingcall. Here are the details for the 2008 Casting Call:

Gap is excited to announce the launch of its annual Casting Call contest – a nationwide search for the cutest babies and kids to become babyGap and GapKids models. Gap is teaming up with Snapfish, a leading online photo service, to invite you to enter babies (ages four and under) and kids (ages five to ten) across the country into the Casting Call. From September 15 through October 22, 2008, submit your favorite photo of your child(ren) for a chance for them to be featured in an upcoming babyGap or GapKids campaign. Finalists and winners will receive prize packages including special gifts from babyGap, GapKids, and Snapfish.

How it works:
A panel of judges will narrow all entries received down to 20 finalists (5 boys, 5 girls, 5 baby boys, and 5 baby girls). Those finalists will be voted on by the public from December 8 through December 21, 2008. The children who receive the most votes in each category will be announced as winners in January 2009.

Here’s some further contest details from the official contest rules:

3. CONTEST PERIOD: The Contest runs between 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on September 15, 2008 and 11:59 p.m. ET on December 21, 2008 (the “Contest Period”) and consists of three (3) phases as set forth in the chart below:

Phase Starts at 12:00 a.m. ET   Ends at 11:59 p.m. ET
Submission September 15, 2008 October 22, 2008
Judging /
Finalist Notification
October 23, 2008 December 7, 2008
Voting December 8, 2008 December 21, 2008

6. FINALIST VERIFICATION/DISQUALIFICATION: Potential Finalists will be notified on or about November 1, 2008 by phone, email, and/or mail using the contact information given at the time of entry. Each potential Finalist (or parent of legal guardian if potential Finalist is a minor in his/her state of residence) will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability & Publicity Release (“Affidavit”) within two (2) days from the date of notification. Potential Finalists will also be required to execute a babyGap & GapKids Casting Call Contest Release and Photo Release. If a potential Finalist does not return such documentation within the required timeframe, then he/she will be disqualified. Potential Finalists must travel to San Francisco, CA on November 16, 2008 and return on November 21, 2008 for a photo shoot (as described in paragraph 8 below). If a potential Finalist fails to travel to San Francisco, CA for the photo shoot, he/she forfeits the prize, will not advance to the Voting Phase and will be disqualified. The Sponsors, in their sole discretion, may disqualify a Finalist for any reason relating to behavioral issues with respect to the Finalist’s child and/or illness/death of Finalist’s child. In the event of disqualification, Sponsors will select another potential Finalist in accordance with the judging procedures listed in Section 5(a), up to two (2) times (if time permits), after which the applicable Finalist Prize will not be awarded.

In addition to having the online contest, this year the Gap is putting together a “photo tour” from September 19th to October 18th at selected stores. At these in-store events you can “have your child’s photo taken by a professional photographer and enjoy special offers for babyGap and GapKids” (whatever that means). I’ve posted the NY and NJ photo tour details after the jump, click this link for the full schedule.

PPS If you were one of the 20 finalists selected, you probably received something like this in your inbox.

  1. please send me the website/link that i can view photos of my grandson taken at the casting call in Mission Viejo, CA. his photo code is [redacted]. I have searched the website and have not found the link.

  2. Is there a limit to how many photos or snapshots, perhaps 4 or so………..I’m having trouble making images smaller….Please advise. Is their a mailing address or strictly online?
    thanks,Mike Miles

  3. Is there a way to view/select the pics online just in case I cannot find my stub? I am searching high and low for my stub for Massachusetts casting call and I might not find it.

  4. We have twins. Can we submit 5 photos for each twin? Example: My husband could submit 5 photos of our son registering with his email address and then I submit 5 photos of our daughter using my email address? Or is it a 5 photo limit per family no matter how many children?

  5. I was on the website and my entry wouldnt go through. When i tried again it said the call had ended. Is there a way i could get my son in the call?

  6. I uploaded my son’s picture over a week ago and i did get a confirmation but untill yesterday i could not find his pic in the gallery unless I searched by e-mail. Does it mean Gap can see the pic ?

  7. “Aleida”….I had this same question. According to Gap, they can only show the most recent (200) pics that were submitted. As long as you can see the pics when you enter the email address then you are good to go.

  8. I was not able to add my child’s picture. I was trying and did not let me due to the size, can I still add her photo or mail it in , can some one reply please. My child’s name is Jenna.

    Thank You

  9. Hi, can someone tell me how to get into the site to view the photo gallery.

Thank you and good luck to everyone that has entered.

  10. I had entered my child. Was wondering if there was still a gallery somewheres where you could search? Just making sure that the photos had went thru.

For those who are wondering when the finalist will be picked. It wont be until Dec.

For those who were wondering why they couldnt enter their child. Not sure what time and day you had tried, but the contest had ended at 12 midnight East time yesterday.

  11. I had the same problem with not being able to see my child in the online gallery unless I entered my email address. I was wondering when Gap will be posting/showing the tenative finalists that will be going to CA to have a photoshoot?

  12. I was looking at the 2007 blogs and it seemed like everyone had the same questions about the timing of notifications. So, I found some answers. How about a woo hoo?

The 20 finalists will be notified on or about 11/1/08.

The 20 finalists and 1 adult will travel to San Fran on 11/16/08 and return on 11/21/08. Part of the prize pkg and for the Gap people to “get to know” the kids as the photos we submitted will be used for the public voting, not the ones taken in SF.

Grand Prize Winner and Runner’s Up will be notified on or around 12/22/08.

You can find all of this and much more by going to the very disappointing page that says the contest is now closed and you can’t see the pictures any longer. At the bottom of the page there is a handy little spot to click called “Official Rules” and it will answer all of your questions.

    Good Luck everyone!

  13. I know they only pay for one adult, but do you guys know if the other parent can come along if we pay for it? My husband really wants to go and we are willing to pay for the extra airline ticket.

  14. Lauren, you probably need to send an email to them and ask. I scanned the FAQ and didn’t see anything about it. Good luck on 11/1.

  15. I was wondering “how ” and “when” they would be contacting the finalist… The “gap contest rules” and other articles I have read recently are conflicting. The rules said finalist would be contacted on Oct. 24th then flown out in mid Nov. This would be impossible to do when submissions ended on the 22nd of Oct. Can someone shed a little light on this topic for me? Thanks!

  16. Did anyone acually get an answer to that? Seems odd that they could have made any choices to fast, but I guess you never know. I personally could never choose, there were too many adorable kids in this!

  17. I had some trouble sending my child’s photo through so i missed out.i finally got over the fact that i need to wait till next years contest-it’s disappointing! but does anyone know when will it start again?? can someone please help me with this question…thanks

  18. Sharene..this is the first year that I entered the contest, however I believe it runs around this time every year. Check back next Sept./early Oct. Regis and Kelly are having a photo contest now if you want to enter that one!

  19. Hello everyone…I’m am SO terribly sorry that I mislead everyone, I should have worded that differently. I haven’t found out yet (counting down the days until Saturday!). I was wandering IF we are picked could my husband go if we agreed to pay for his airline ticket. I’m sorry guys, I feel terrible for misleading everyone :( I know we are all on pins and needles!

  20. Lauren, I am almost sure I read that If someone wanted to go along that they just had to purchase a ticket for the same flight, but Im not sure on the room stuff. Im thinking that most people take someone. Linda, I have heard that you are contacted both ways, atleast thats what last years finalist have said. Hope that helps.

  21. Hi, I submitted my son’s pictures and I am having trouble viewing them. Can you kindly send me the link for the gallery?

    Thank you.

  22. Hey everyone! I submitted my son’s photos maybe a month ago and I have been reading tons of forums from various moms discussing this casting call. I am sooo excited about this whole process as it’s my first time and all with any contest! I just love that I can chat with other moms about all of this, so that I’m not excited alone. Good luck to everyone!! Even if we don’t win, I can’t wait to see who they choose and vote. It’s so fun!

  23. ok i have a question….i was able to see my babys picture but if i only put my email , what does that mean tho? does it mean he never got into the gallery or it means he is in the gallery for the contest….can anyone answer that? thank you …..hopefully they get to see our babys pictures for those who could only see them if they put their email address…good luck to everyone!!

  24. Nevermind, I know what you ment. I think its both, e-mail and a phone call. I wish they were doing it today, to get all the jidders out!

  25. I entered so late that I was never able to see my daughters picture in the gallery or by email address. The contest ended like 1 hour later so it never posted because it takes up to 24 hours. I hope it made it to the contest. I never got to see if it was there.

  26. Did anyone else happen to take pictures of their little ones AFTER submitting photos for the contest, and then wished you’d waited?? I took some of my little guy that totally blew the others out of the water and now I’m kicking myself for being so anxious! Oh well. Lol.

  27. I don’t remember them asking for a phone number when I submitted my daughters photos. Do any of you? I only remember putting in my email address. So, how would they call to tell you?

  28. If you google gap backstage meassage board, thats where I found what Linda saw. The lady who said that has written again to correct herself, she was not notified as a finalist. I guess were still in there ladies!

  29. Hey Ladies, I just found this site and I am so glad I did. I have a question. My DH told me tonight that we received a call on Wednesday from someone who said they wanted to speak to me about a contest we had entered for our daughter and he said to the lady, “WE DID?” He told her he didn’t know it and they asked to speak to me but I wasn’t home and he didn’t tell me about it until TONIGHT! ( I told him I entered her but can you believe he forgot!) I immediately called the number back but of course there was no one there and I had to leave a message but I am wondering if we missed our shot. But my question is do you think we still have a chance to be in the contest? I really hope so! I am saying a prayer for us and for all those who are anxiously awaiting a phone call!

  30. Michelle, I would think so. Surely they wouldn’t try to make one attempt at trying to contact you and then just skip to someone else. And like Lisa said, if you listed an email then they will email you as well. The rules indicate that it would be November 1st so maybe they will try to call back tomorrow. If you hear anything else, let us know :) Good Luck! How old is your little girl?

  31. Michelle – do you know if the company contacting you was “eprize”? I think that is the company Gap works with. Check your email spam.

  32. Per the Gap casting call website:

Q: If my child is selected as a finalist how will I be notified?
A: If your child is selected as a potential Finalist you will receive a phone call to verify your eligibility after the submission phase.

  33. Hi Everyone, just found this website. I entered my son in the contest too and waiting on pins and needles for the result. good luck to everyone.

  34. hey
why does everyone seem to think they t understand what is going on? From what i read they will not contact anyone until nov 1st and it also could take a couple of weeks. does anyone know why we cant look in the gallery!! also when will the post the finalist pics?? the trip is in a couple of weeks, so I can hoestly guess if they pick one of my kids i will hear something this week? )right??) good luck all!! my daughter has been modeling since she was 6 mths old, it is a interesting life we have brought her into. she seems to love it, getting her pic taken and people saying how cute she looks.( i think all girls, any age love to hear that!!)

  35. I think I heard one of our radio hosts here in Atlata say their child is a finalist. This was during the Friday morning show.

  36. i guess my daughter is not among the finalist since the only email i got from Gap today is a “thank you” message for signing-up on their website.

  37. about what PAM said:

“i guess my daughter is not among the finalist since the only email i got from Gap today is a “thank you” message for signing-up on their website.”

  38. I dont think that means your out. Did you just sign up on there site when you entered the contest? I had been signed up for a while from things like online shopping on there site, and I didnt get an e-mail like that. Maybe they are just getting out there “thank you for joinging” things out late?

  39. Thats probably why. Otherwise I think all the winners would know (its only 20 phone calls!) and all the rest of us would have those e-mails. Hang in there.

  40. i have been getting a lot of coupons from gap and old navy and thank yous for signing up too, i dont think that is how they notify you, i think if they have made their decisions it would be on their website

  41. They didnt post the 20 on line last year until the voting stage , and people were pretty confused. I figure, it said on or AROUND the first of November, so Im not sure when that could be. Maybe all of them have been called, but they aren’t involed in any of these sites? That would suck! I just wanna know:)

  42. From an early posting, “MICHELLE” said her husband had received a call back on Wednesday…I was curious as to whether she found out any more info…

  43. I wonder if they will notify people today even though it’s a weekend. I read that last year they were going to notify “on or about Oct. 30th ” but one of the finalists was notified on
Nov. 1st. Good luck to everyone!!

  44. the gap could at least put on their website that they have notified the 20 finalist to let everyone know they have been picked

  45. Well, the kids that are picked will know soon since they have to be in California on the 16th. Im sure they notify people as soon as they can.

  46. I have a link to the pictures I posted of my two little girls. Keepin my fingers crossed!! Do you think living in a SMALL town would have anything to do with not winning? Odd ? I know. I just wonder about the expense that they would pay for travel because I live about 3-4 hrs from any major airport. Dono! Anywho, come see the pictures I posted if you have time :)

  47. Im sure if they really want your kids for there pics, it doesn’t matter where you live. And also, Ive been telling my son that sometimes companies are looking for a certain look, that sometimes isn’t even the “cutest” to everyone else. It just may be a look they want. Unfortuantly my son looks ALOT like last years winner, but blond and also like another boy in there winter add. Who needs 3 kids that look the same?!

  48. That is exactly what I told my 8 year old daughter Megan…that you don’t know what “look” they want…and there are only a million people registered:-)

  49. Hawaiian tropic is good, but its more of a pagant. And its not via internet, you have to go there. But they are very respectful of the children and make them feel good about themselves, that was my sons first experiance to see if he liked this kind of stuff.

  50. I am glad that I found this website. I entered my 10 year old son and 6 month old daughter in the GAP casting call. This is the first time we have ever entered a photo contest. My children aren’t professional models but everyone tells us that they should be. We haven’t heard anything yet. I agree you don’t know what “look”they are looking for and I also think that maybe they are narrowing down their choices by maybe looking for a certain age and gender within each category, just my opinion though.

  51. Who knows, If they had 800,000 kids last year, can you just think about how many people entered THIS year?? OHG! Im glad Im not a judge!

  52. that could be an issue for them having to look at so many pictures and then narrowing it down, that could take awhile. I did notice alot of people sending in pictures of cute kids, but not very good photos. its hard to tell what some of the kids look like from the photos that were sent in and that went for a large majority of the ones I saw

  53. Hello Ladies!! I’ve been following this website for the past week. We entered our youngest daughter (Ellison 19mos Ohio))and the suspense is killing me! Went to ToysRUs XMAS shopping and a 626 area code # was on the caller ID when I returned. Pasadena. I tried to it back but its just a fast busy signal. Grrrr. I got that email from GAP, but it was on the day I signed up for the contest. It came from ePrize. Any news???!!!

  54. I found this just now….

Q: If my child is selected as a finalist how will I be notified?
A: If your child is selected as a potential Finalist you will receive a phone call to verify your eligibility after the submission phase.

  55. This should be some kind of psych experiment on parents and our jaded views of our children ;) I mean, how many of us have thought, “Of course my kid’s going to win! How could he not??!? Nevermind that there are a million other kids in the contest – I know my kid’s the winner.”

In all seriousness, it has astounded me how much I have actually believed that my child has a good chance of winning this competition. I tend to be a pretty reasonable, logical person – and I’m a biotech statistician, for crying out loud! I’ve always thought that I was immune from this level of bias for my child, but apparently not. And you know what? I’m okay with that.

So when are the suits from the Gap supposed to be calling me? ;) jk

Best wishes to everyone! How blessed we all are to have our children.

  56. Me too – Mrs. Logical and Realistic. But I was SURE my little sweet face would make the cut. I mean if she doesn’t Gap CLEARLY has no idea what beauty is! Funny how we turn into die hard doting mama’s when it comes to our kids!

  57. I have also been following this website….and sent both my kids pictures in……….I just love pictures…..Amber – your kids and your pictures you posted are gorgeous….best of luck……….!

  58. Im kinda starting to think If we haven’t heard anything by now, then we probably wont. Im sure by now they have contacted the finalist. Im not trying to be negative, just realistic. Sad…but true :( But if by some strange miracle someone still gets a call, please keep us posted.

  59. LOL Ditto….surely he would be a finalist….I’ve tried to convince myself all day that it really wouldn’t bother me if they didn’t select him….but also maybe he doesn’t have the “look”…..but you are right…we are blessed to have our little bundles.

  60. Well put, Angela! I think you summed up this experience perfectly for me! It’s sad how stressed I was all day over this contest…. the main thing is that we all have happy and healthy kids who are beautiful to us! With that said, I am still very curious if anyone gets contacted, so please keep us all posted. :) Good luck to all!

  61. It’s funny how we all teeter on the line of reality and hopefulness…all day I’ve said to myself, “obviously my son wasn’t chosen since I’ve heard nothing, and that’s okay” yet I periodically checked my phone for “the” missed call, and the second I returned home, I checked my email! Lol. Angela, I think this teetering may be the only way to enjoy the process rather than to stress over it. As you said, we all know our children are beautiful, and though it would be nice for the Gap to acknowledge that…we know the truth!

  62. It’s good to know that I’m not alone being sucked into this whole process. LOL I was just wondering if anyone happened to email any of the gap contacts to find out if the notification process has been completed?

  63. Hi Ladies, Sorry, we have been having some minor computer problems today with logging on. In regards to the call we received the other day and I wasn’t home I did receive a call back but it was not in relation to the GAP contest. While I am relieved because we thought we had missed the opportunity to file all the necessary paperwork, Im still on pins and needles about this. My daughter will be 3 this month. So we are all still in it ladies! There may still be hope for all of us! Best of Luck to all of us!!!!

  64. Thank you Kathy! I too have been waiting anxiously and know that if I don’t receive a call, my kids are just as cute as they were before! They are truly gifts from God and I am so thankful to be their mamma! Thanks for looking at my blog, I am just getting into photography and my kiddos make the best models I could ask for!!! Good luck to all and I can’t wait to see the cute lil finalists:) Thanks for putting up this site for all of us anxious parents!

  65. I too entered my 3 year old daughter and 1 year old son. I am sitting here just waiting to know if they picked the finalists yet. But even if they did we all have beautiful children who are so amazing. I mean… they have so many kids that entered and can only pick 20! That has to be so hard!

  66. about notification for all those still wondering: Potential Finalists will be notified on or about November 1, 2008 by phone, email, and/or mail using the contact information given at the time of entry.

  67. I asked them yesterday if all finalists have been notified and I got the following e-mail back today.

  68. Well it is Sunday afternoon and we still haven’t heard anything. I think that they won’t contact the finalists until Monday seeing that November 1st was a Saturday but you never know! Gosh, I didn’t know that they had almost a million entrants. It makes me wonder how the judges are narrowing down the choices. They must be using some type of criteria. I would hate to be a judge though.

  69. Wow…. i am so anxious but i had a question. I submitted pics of my daughter cause the only ones i had on my computer last minute were her 2 year bday photos from babies r us… does that mean that i will be disqualified, i mean they were my property and there were no touch ups but they were a kids protrait studio…

  70. Amanda,
You might. The rules do state “No professional pictures”. It has to do with the quality of the photo taken and of course copyright laws.

  71. Sorry, They took out the “no professional photos” clause this year, I’m guessing due to the live casting call where professionals took pictures. You must have the copyright of the picture though.

  72. I didn’t see anything about non professional pictures. I am an amateur photographer and working on becoming a professional and I wasn’t disqualified that I know of. In some ways, it’s a good thing that they like the pictures to be good quality but at the same time, there are some gorgeous kids out there that don’t have parents who are photographers or own a camera that takes “good quality” pictures. I know that 33% of the judging goes to picture quality. I have a friend who has a little boy that is just adorable so I took some pictures for her (can be seen on my blog site) and gave her the copyright, which I understand is ok as long as she submitted them as she did.

  73. Ok yea i know the place said i get the rights to the photo which is good, i just didnt know if they had to be completely candid.. so thank you everyone so much and i wish everyone the best of luck!!!

  74. I got an e-mail from them today….

    Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, we cannot process your request at this time, as all

  75. Everyone:

I sent an email to the Gap casting people, asking if the finalists had been notified yet, and I got the following response today:

  76. Hi Everyone,

I received an email today from a parent whose child was selected as part of the final 20. Here’s what she said:

Maybe Gap/ePrize will still be calling more finalists on Monday, but we found out on Friday that our child is one of the 20! We’re thrilled and excited and amazed!

We received the call late on Halloween, and then we received a follow-up e-mail a little later saying, “Congratulations – You are a winner in the Gap and babyGap Casting Call.” We’re supposed to receive travel info later this week. I know I said this already, but we cannot believe it! I’m sorry not to be able to tell you more; we’re nervous about saying much until we’re sure it’s OK with Gap.

I really hope the parents and grandparents won’t be too disappointed if they don’t hear from Gap. These kinds of contests are so subjective, and there are so many entries and SO many adorable children that it feels like playing the lottery — it’s a lot about luck. I hope that other parents will agree that you don’t need a contest to know that your children are already the most beautiful and precious gifts imaginable!

Hope to keep in touch :)

  77. Bumpershine, please pass our congratulations to the woman who’s child was selected! Did she happen to mention which category it was in… boy, girl, baby boy, baby girl?

Thank you for passing on the information to all of us anxious parents. :)

  78. Dont worry. maybe there still is a chance. It didn’t sound like they had made all there choices yet acording to Rysmom. Id wait untill maybe tuesday. Who knows? Hang in there!

  79. I got this email from ePrize:

In the event that your child is chosen you will be notified by phone and the number will show up as ePrize. Please do not email us every time you have an unfamiliar number on your caller ID. You will not be notified if your child is not chosen. =

  80. So it sounds like if you are a finalist, they will call you first and then just send a follow up email. I hope they call first because so much of my email goes to my junk folder. So I better check my junk folder just in case.

  81. Hayley is BEAUTIFUL!! Just remember, it’s not over. I remember that there may be circumstances where the finalists chosen may not be able to participate for one reason or another. In those cases, runner ups would take their place. It’s not over until it’s over!!!

  82. Thats right! You never know whats going on, only time will tell. Another work week of wondering and waiting to get home and check the phone!AHHHHH!!

  83. eastwest mom, your little girl is cute! AND the photo looks great, unlike 75% of the ones on the Gap website. It was unfortunate that many of the ones submitted were of cute kids, but the photos were poor quality.

I’ve read through everyone else’s posts and I’m glad I’m not the only one who was secretly holding out hope until the last second! Well, at least we get to have our voices heard during the voting phase. Then we’ll get to pick kids that are cute even if it wasn’t our own up there.

  84. To all mothers I have been reading all of you guys comments and I have just be thinking the same think. Sometimes I wonder why my daughter is never picked for these contest. After all she has won millions of pageants and several photogenic contest however, just keep your head up our kids day will come some day

  85. I think the Gap contest is one of a kind, it is credible and it has class.

I too really wanted my daughter to win like every other mother, but why are we all trying so hard to exploit our children?

Reading some of the posts on here, I can’t believe how much parents do to get their children to be some superstar. i am not trying to start anything here, but “our kids day will come some day” is it our child’s day, or is it the parents day?

I seriously think my daughter could care less if she won this contest and because of that i am not “disappointed” and “bummed out” for my child not winning. It would have been fun, but we can have just as much fun staying home and playing chutes and ladders!

I keep up with this post because I am excited to find out who was picked for the top 20 finalists! With over half a million photos to review I think the judges will pick some beautiful children and many congrats to them!

We all have beautiful children whether it be spiritually, mentally and physically.

  86. Ok, so i just deleted my spam mail on accident and i freaked! Who deletes their spam and freaks!? haha So they will call first? Or is it over? Should i just put my hopes to rest? Good luck again everyone!! God Bless!

  87. that last sentence was suppose to say:

“We all have beautiful children whether it be spiritually, mentally OR physically.”

  88. Hey everyone…we can still hope for a phone call today! My husband thinks i’m crazy b/c Saturday, everytime my phone ring I would run to grab it…but no call from Gap. The comment that Rysmom made on 11/2 made it seem like they haven’t notified everyone..or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part :) Here is a pic of my little one…http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq26/lauren_brown102/McKenzieinbonnet.jpg and http://i430.photobucket.com/albums/qq26/lauren_brown102/puckerup.jpg

  89. Lauren, I LOVE that picture of her in her bonnet. You know, looking at all these pictures of all our beautiful children… you can’t help but feel blessed!

  90. Thanks for all the nice responses. Lauren McKenzie is beautiful too. My daughter really likes to perform and has such a funny spunky personality. She told me (on her own) that she wants to perform like Hannah Montana. (Too bad she cannot sing!!!)

  91. “eastwestmom” your little girl is adorable!!! Thank you guys too for such sweet comments :) My husband and I were going to wait about 2 more years to have kids so it was a suprise when we found out that I was pregnant…but you know looking at her now I couldn’t have waited 2 years for her to be here!!

  92. Hi everyone! I just found this site yesterday when I was searching for the results to the gap cating call! I kind of forgot about it until I looked at the calendar yesterday and relized that the finalists we supposed to be notified on or about Nov 1st. I’m still waiting for my phone call! Hahaha! Has anyone found anything out yet? This is one of the pics I submitted of my son. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j128/SheBrick0519/n35102185_32220674_7261.jpg

  93. I think the email that was apparently sent to bumpershine sounds awfully generic, and if in fact it was actually real, I would like to see a picture of the child. Major corporations tend to vear away from contacting people on holidays, even Halloween. Although I did not submit a picture of my daughter, for the parents that are still anxiously waiting, I think there is still hope for you. Good Luck!

  94. we’re still waiting! although i feel like we’re out of luck. i really wish they would publish something stating that they have already contacted the semi-finalists!!

  95. I sent out a few emails trying to get some information, but nothing yet. I would think that by today all the finalists should have been selected and notified, since they would need to travel to CA soon. But who knows.

Congrats to all who have heard!

  96. Last year of the the finalists wasn’t notified until Nov. 1st, just 12 days before traveling to CA. As someone mentioned earlier, I would imagine tomorrow would be the latest anybody would get notified or perhaps today…but who knows:-) This is WAY too much stress for me:-)

  97. i only got two of the ‘thank you for entering your child’ emails, and i entered 5 pictures (2 for my daughter, 3 for my son) so i wonder if the pictures even made it in at all…..i entered on the last day so i never got to see them in the gallery…..

  98. i never got a thank you email for entering any of my photos, but they were all viewable when i entered my email address from the gallery.

  99. To those who shared pics of their little ones, what adorable children! I came across this site when I was searching to see if the finalists had been chosen. I, too, entered my son and am *amazed* that Gap hasn’t callled. ;)
If someone does get chosen and is able to share the news, please do so we can all be sure to vote for your cutie pie!

  100. I entered my little girl Karin and my son Noah and didn’t hear anything back. : ( Oh well…. there are still so beautiful and amazing little kids! I didn’t care about them winning for the modeling part, but seriously how nice would it be to have the clothes for them! 3,000 for winner of each age group in clothes!

  101. Another reason to keep your hopes up… remember that all finalist who are notified must return paper work within two days or disqualified. If they forget and your child was say #21 on the judging list, you’re going to CA!!!

Just trying to stay optimistic ;)

  102. No news here either, here is one of the pics I send in of my son….I thought for sure I would get in…LOL….I mean how could they not see the cuteness!!??(sarcasm)

  103. i tried to post a picture of my little one earlier and it says it is awaiting moderation… let me try again

  104. Julissa, your little boy has the sweetest smile! I can’t believe that they didn’t pick any of these kids! They are all so precious!

  105. ok so has anyone heard about the finalist selection? I did get an email from Gap.com on the 1st thanking me for signing up-ughhhh

  106. Thanks! I think she’s pretty sweet, but then again I’m her mom! They had so many kids to pick from and I really think it all depends on what they’re looking for this year. My daughter has light hair with darker eyes…. sort of like the little girl who won last year. So they might want a different look this year! Oh well! All of these little ones are amazing and how lucky are we to be blessed and entrusted with them!

  107. Well we still haven’t heard anything yet but I am not holding my breath. If my children aren’t selected, I won’t be disappointed. I just thought it would be fun, plus I wanted them to win some free clothes from GAP, lol :) I love all of the pictures everyone has posted of their children, all of you have absolutely beautiful children! I submitted 4 pictures of my 6 month old daughter and 1 picture of my 10 year old son. I will go find them and post them later. Everyone always tells me that I should get my children into modeling but I have mixed feelings about it because I want my children to know that there is more to them than just their looks and whenever people comment on how gorgeous or beautiful they are, I always add that they are smart well behaved children too.

  108. Here are my two sweeties, of course I didn’t submit this picture, I will get links to those and post them in a minute.

  109. Kristin,

Your last statement reminds me of my father…he always used to tell people the exact same thing about my sister and I:-)

  110. Did anyone else get this email??

  111. I never received any email from GAP after I put Megan’s photos up…I could only see her photos when I typed in my email address.

  112. I entered my daughter, Brianna as well. Of course everyone thinks their child is cute and could win this contest. But honestly, with this contest, it’s pretty much a shot in the dark. There were probably 1,000,000 entries. So that means our chances are pretty much 1 in a million.

Here are a couple of the pics that I entered:

  113. Well I hope they are making calls this week. It doesnt make much sense to start calling people on a Saturday. I bet the calls are being made this week. It probably started today so I say we have until say Wednesday

  114. I am so glad that I found a website with parents just as anxious and confused as I am. I entered my daughter into the contest and I have been checking tons of websites to see if there has been an announcement made but to no success. I do feel comforted knowing that there are others parents just as anxious and excited as I am. I do know that based on the contest rules there were supposed to notify the finalists on or about November 1st. But I read an article on a finalist from last year, the finalist were supposed to be notified on or about Oct.30th but she didn’t get notified until the week of Nov.5th. So maybe there’s still hope.

  115. Hi there dear mothers,

Why don’t they accept all our pictures as finalist and make a BIIIG mural out of it :D Better than waiting and stressing out over a one phone call otherwise we would ignore before :D

  116. I wonder if the GAP judges have been reading this website and others like it…and laughing like puppetmasters pulling our strings of anxiety. Why do they enjoy toying with us so???? Just tell us who made the cut already!! LOL.

  117. Just wondering, what age group are your kids that you entered in? Mine is in the boys catagory. Too bad the lady how said she is a finalist never said anything about that.

  118. Hi ladies. Just wanted to tell you this is a great site. I too am still hoping..
I did want to tell all of you that published your photos on here or a blog that that is not allowed. It says in the official rules that the photo you submit cannot be published anywhere…just wanted to let you know. Good luck everyone! I still think there is hope!! Gap never does anything fast!

  119. Sorry, previous post sounds wack!
    The sentence should read:
I did want to tell all of you ladies that have published your photos on here or on a blog that you should remove them because it states in the rules that you may not have published the photos you submitted. I think published is vague…so I took it to mean anywhere the public sees. I hope that is more clear than my previous post…

  120. Hi everyone – I wanted to tell you some ‘insider’ info to put some of your minds at ease. My son was chosen as a finalist in last year’s Gap contest. We were sent an email, which I never saw because it ended up in my Spam folder. It was nearly the exact letter that was posted above – so it sound legitimate. It was from Gap’s contest company “ePrize.” Since I never responded to the email, they called me. I didn’t recognize the number, so I didn’t answer the call, but they left me a voicemail which I immediately returned. This call came less then ONE week before I had to travel to SF. I had to answer a few questions and complete a questionairre to verify my son’s eligibility. Then, I had to sign, complete and notorize several documents in a short amount of time in order to be qualified. Then, it was a whirlwind of travel planning and adjusting schedules to make a trip to SF happen.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that they do their best to get ahold of everyone multiple times. I don’t remember the exact date I was notified, or how close it was to the date they listed on their website, but like I said it was only a week before the SF trip.

As one of the 20 finalists we were asked not to tell anyone, as they want to keep it quiet until the Gap issues their formal press announcement. That didn’t happen until the online voting opened up. We told our family, but kept it quiet until the press announcement went out – which was a couple weeks after we were notified! That was torture!

I did enter my son again this year, but the chances are so slim of getting chosen once, that I really didn’t think it could happen again.

Anyway – best of luck to everyone.

  121. Medge…I know they pay for one adult to go…are other people allowed to go if you pay for the plane ticket? thanks for the information :)

  122. Glad the info is useful…as much as it can be, I suppose.

Lauren – regarding the travel. Yes, they pay for one adult and the child. If you want someone else to go, you can pay for it yourself. Most of the kids that were in SF had two parents, or a parent and grandparent, etc. We actually had to stagger our travel becuase of the short notice. Luckily, we only live 2 hours from SF, so we were able to drive and not have to deal with airfare. One day/night I drove down, one day/night my hubby went and in between for a day/evening my hubby’s parents were up there with my son. I just mentioned it to my ‘contact’ who was helping me get set up and she had me make sure all ‘guardians’ that would be with him signed a waiver. It was actually great to have each person there to participate so they could enjoy the VERY COOL experience!

  123. someone please help me! I put a link up of my kiddos and only one of the pics was one I used to enter, I seriosuly doubt we were picked, but I don’t want to take a chance and leave it up. I deleted the pic off of photobucket, but the link still takes you to the picture! Can someone delete that comment?? Or is there a way to delete the link?! Please help!

  124. Hi Medge – did they give you any insight as to how they narrow down all the adorable
pictures to just 20?!! I can’t imagine how they do it! Your input has given me hope again.

  125. Thanks Medge for all the info.
My one thought is, if the 20 are not allowed to say the are finalists, how will we know they have been picked?

  126. The process for picking the 20 finalists sounds so hard to me! I think they had a room full of people who literally went through ALL the photos and separated them into yes and nos. Then, they went through all the yeses and just slowly narrowed them down. It sounds like a ‘war room’ situation – LOL. They did tell us that the eyes were always the first thing they would look at.

All the finalists will be picked by the 16th since that is when they need to be in SF. If you haven’t heard by then, assume you haven’t been picked. Even though they said on or around the 1st, there are things that can cause delays and all that.

  127. Rachel:
I remember reading that in the “oficial rules” and I think it said something along the lines of…the pictures you enter must not have been entered in any photo contests before and must not have been displayed in any way previous. I think it meant that you couldn’t have the pictures up displayed before you entered them in the Gap contest. I posted those after the fact on my new photo blog but I think I may remove them for the time being jsut to make sure I didn’t read it wrong. Thanks for the reminder!! All of us mothers should get together and I will do a photo shoot with all of our “sweet, smart, adorable, beautiful, handsome, FANTASTIC” chillens and make them regret not choosing out CUTIES!!! Anyone know how to make awesome clothes, somewhat like GAPS clothes :) LOL….I am still holding out some hope but also realize that they have MANY kids to choose from. If you are all enjoying looking at my pictures, keep coming back as I am going to be posting some new pictures from a few shoots I have done in the last few days. My cute cute kids just did some posin for their mama this afternoon, I LOVE how they turned out!! Hang in there gals, there is still hope :)

  128. Thanks so much! I doubt they won and I am sure that the finalists have already been notified, but when someone mentioned not using the pics we submitted I got kind of nervous. I guess I am still holding on to some hope that just maybe they haven’t notified everyone. Thank you again though!

  129. I’m not worried about the publishing clause…I posted my pictures of my son on my blog….oh well. You can look at them if you click on my Name! Good luck to everyone….still holding out for some small chance!

  130. Hey everyone,

Since this is such a popular thread I just thought I would let you all know about a contest I’m running right now on the site. I’m giving away a free 320GB Seagate Free Agent Go Hard Drive (the perfect place to store pictures of your kids, or your music, or whatever else you like) to one lucky reader of this site. You can read more about the contest over here, or just enter your name right over here. It really is a cool toy (it’s also worth $150), and I’d love to see some more people enter, so please take a look.

    Your Webmaster (Bumpershine)

  131. Hi everyone,

I am nervous. I read above that the email might end up in the spam folder (which just delete)… I also go to school in the evenings and my mother doesn’t answer unrecognized phone calls!!! I submitted my son’s pictures on or about 10/19 should I be worried!!

  132. Julie, Medge said “We were sent an email, which I never saw because it ended up in my Spam folder. It was nearly the exact letter that was posted above – so it sound legitimate. It was from Gap’s contest company “ePrize.” Since I never responded to the email, they called me. I didn’t recognize the number, so I didn’t answer the call, but they left me a voicemail which I immediately returned.”

I’m sure if you are a finalist they will track you down, they leave voicemails.

  133. Good Morning Ladies,

I just read all the posts from last night, I didn’t get a chance to come back to the computer lastnight. Medge, THANK YOU so much for sharing the information, it really does relieve some of the anxiety. But now after reading your post I am like you Julie, I have been deleting my SPAM not thinking that it would come through SPAM. I’m really freaking out about that. I can’t even remember what # I submitted when I entered my daughter. My houseline is currently not on, so I’m hoping that I submitted my cell phone #. Does anyone know how we can verify the contact information we submitted to them? I did try emailing the eprize, I received a response saying that they would respond in 3 days.

Again, I’m so glad to share in this experience with all of you mothers. It’s so comforting to know that we have each other for support. No one understands better than MOMS!!!! Good luck to everyone, the judges do have a difficult decision on their hands with so many adorable children.

  134. Hi all,
I did get an email from eprize and was told to send an email to “WinListRequest@eprizefulfillment.com” with request for the gap casting call 2008 finalists in the subject line—now I am not sure how quickly they will respond with that info as there still is a process that may or may not have been completed? But I thought that I would share that info with everyone.

  135. Thank you for your email. We will respond to your request 8-10 weeks after the conclusion of the promotion. A copy of the Win List will be sent to the email address that this request was sent from. We will only respond to requests received within 3 months after the conclusion of the promotion.

    Prize Fulfillment Services

this was the response from my email that I sent to them! So no news from them—mums the word!

  136. The suspense is killing me. If anyone knows how we can verify our contact information and can you please post it. I really have no idea what # I submitted. I would really appreciate it. At least I still have hope after reading Medge’s post :-)

  137. Hi Everyone,

I know there were some doubts as to the truthfulness of the person who emailed me claiming to be a finalist. Yesterday, I received an email from the same person with a copy of the affidavit they received when they were notified about being in the top 20. You can view it here. (Note: I added the watermark and redacted the address after the fact.)

Oh yeah, they also wanted me to say thanks to “Lori” for being so kind as to congratulate them.

  138. Bumpershine…did they happen to say if all finalist had been notified? I’m thinking that they would notify everyone all at once and not drag it out over a week. You know they have got to start getting ready for the photoshoot/travel arrangements. There is always next year :)

  139. Even if our kids didn’t “win” this “election”, at least we can all take comfort in the fact that we can participate in this historic presidential election!! VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!

  140. Bumpershine, please tell that woman to let us know who her child is, when voting begins, so that we can vote for him / her.

And did she happen to say which category it was in?

Lauren, did you happen to call the Gap people to find out if all the finalists have been selected? I never received a response to my email.

  141. Lori, I’m sorry that I never responsed, your response must have slipped by me….no I never did. I was afraid that if I called they would get mad :( Does anyone else want to make the call? (I guess I’m a big chicken!)

  142. All of our kids are beautiful and amazing…. we don’t need a contest to tell us that! We are so blessed to have them! Bumpershine, please tell your friend I said congratulations!

  143. anyone know what the area code they were calling from? I had a few missed calls on my cell, but never bothered to answer or check message because i didn’t recognize the number. hmmm

  144. Lauren, I’m not going to call, since I already sent the email. At this point, I think it’s pretty much over anyway. It was fun while it lasted! Good luck to all the finalists!

  145. Moe, in a previous comment, someone received an email from eprize saying that if your child is selected, a call from them would come up as “eprize” on the caller ID. So unless it said that, it likely wasn’t them! ;/ No biggie everyone, I’m sure we can all attest that our children are our greatest joys…I can surely say that of my baby boy. He’s my joy, and Gap baby or not, that will never change nor would it have been enhanced had he won. So don’t be bummed people! I’m excited to find out who DID win and vote!!

  146. Well said, Nicole! Although tonight is the vote that really counts… heehee. Best wishes to all of you lovely moms and your kiddies! It’s been fun. :-)

  147. oh.. and by the way all who posted their children on this website, you all have beautiful kids, I never saw any of these on the gap website, the ones on the website were mostly poor quality pictures, I think we saw better quality pictures on this website… maybe we should be the judges ..just kidding .. good luck next year

  148. Thank You Tanya, I guess my son wasn’t one of them. There’s always next year!!!!! Do you know anything about modeling agency for kids????

  149. Hi Everyone… I got an email back from eprize and it is officially over….

‘The 20 finalists have been selected and notified. We apologize but we are unable to release any information regarding the finalists.’

Just wanted you all to know. It’s been funning ‘chatting’ with you all! Once again, good luck to all the finalists!

  150. Hi Everyone,

Yeah Lori, I got the same email today. We gave it our best shot, there’s always next year. You’re right Sarah, we all have very beautiful children and I don’t need anyone to tell me that. This was something that my daughter wanted to do and I tried for her. She’s bummed out but I told her it had nothing to do with her. This is the hard part about contests, is making sure that they don’t doubt themselves or think that there is anything wrong with them. She sure does love to model and I wish she had been given the opportunity, I’m sure we all feel the same. No one can tell us that our kids aren’t cute! Right Moms! Well Good Luck to those who made it to the finals, I will be checking out the finalists to see who I’m going to vote for.

  151. Bumpershine

Are you able to tell us which category the finalist that was notified today was in?
I have emailed eprize yesterday and today and I have not received the email that Lori and
NeeCee have received. Thanks for the info !!

  152. I emailed eprize on 11/3 and just got the response today, 11/5 at 5pm.

My guess is that the woman bumpershine is referring to got called earlier in the day.

  153. Thanks Lori,
I guess I just need to say congrats to the finalists and enter my little guy again next year!
    It’s been fun chatting!!

  154. Have all the finalist got back to you because I got a phone call the other day when I wasnt at home and they really didnt leave a message with the person who answered so is there a way if you can send me a e mail or something letting me know if im in or not?

  155. hi ladies, i guess the finalists where all notified huh? can you please tell me the email address for eprize? Anyways good luck to all the finaliists , i look forward to voting. and will enter my boys again next yr.

  156. Well I resigned myself to this being over then I come back to this site and see all the craziness still going on. Bumpershine, send my congrats to the one from this board selected. Well, i think the Regis and Kelly contest starts soon, fwiw…All the babies/kids here are so cute. I’m sure it was agonizing for them! And maybe I will take my pic down, just in case…

  157. My daughter’s pictures were also submitted but I guess she did not make it either but you know She is still my beautiful princess before, during, after this contest. Just because she did not makeit for the finalist does not mean that my baby is not or your children are not the next child star. Enjoy them dont get into this thing too deep it sounds you are all stressed out more than the kids as if it was the mother doing this contest.

    Peace and chill out

  158. yes!! i agree we all need to relax. if we need our kids to be such stars, for the money, then maybe we should look at ourselves first. yes it would be great to have my kid in a magazine, or on a mall on the wall of baby gap, infact i have had that and it is not so wonderful!! trust me!! stress stress stress and always wondering is this going to be her big one?? plus the babies dont understand what is goin on, and think just think how many strangers that you dont know that are studiyng your child looking for every little inperfection. so please think about it everytime you send in your kids pic, and if this is the life you chose then good luck to you!!! maybe 1 in a million or 3 will happen. just enjoy life and your babies take lots of pics and hang them on the wall!!!

  159. Just so you know all the winners still have not been determined. I just recieved a generic email from eprize and it says it has been place on hold.

  160. If the 20 finalists have to leave for California on November 16, how can they put it on hold and have not determined the finalists? Maybe they will have to adjust the travel dates if that is the case.

  161. Unfortunately i deleted it because it was so generic. It just said the winners have not been determined at this time, it was placed on hold. They will send a list once winner have been notified.

  162. hmm that’s a little fishy and convenient that a couple people say they got a “contest placed on hold” email and you all deleted it. just because you hit delete doesn’t mean it’s deleted. most systems save it in the trash. i’m pretty sure the judging is over. and anyway they won’t be releasing the names for weeks, not just when they pick the finalists.

  163. Ok. Whatever. When I exit out of my outlook express it deletes all messages that were in the trash. It probably is over, but we were just letting people know what we got.

  164. I’ve been in contact with one of the 20 finalists and they are in the midst of getting travel set up for the SF trip. So I’m assuming the email that said it’s been placed “on hold” means that the finalists have been chosen, but the 4 winners haven’t been determined yet? That will happen once the public voting period is over. That’s all I can guess.

  165. i did recieve the email , and i did delete it , as i empty out my trash folder, when it said it was on hold i dont think anyone meant that they were still picking out finalists , at least thats not the impression i wanted to give. anyway i just want to be able to see the finalist and be able to vote for the cuties , thats all …

  166. Hey! I would like to know how I know if my kids are in the finalist the say that parent suppust to know by dec 5. Today is dec 5 I haven’t received a e-mail How I found that out if my kids are in the finals.

  167. I wish I wouldve read that u could only send a certain amount of picture. I sent about 7!lol. His name if Jourdyn Roberts-1. I am def going to enter him in next year. As soon as i saw the rules, i was like “wow, i disqualified him…lol” He’s only 1 though, so there’s no hurt… Thanks for the casting call though, we have been looking for one forever…! If anyone knows of any others let me know!!! whitfoster@yahoo.com! or any pics

  168. When will the next gap casting call be held; or any similar casting calls for that matter.. I want to enter my 7 month old son :))

  169. Please let me know when your next casting is.I have the most beautiful little girl. She is truly one in a million.:)
