The Office Goes to Winnipeg!

My hometown got a star turn tonight (Nov. 13) on NBC’s The Office.

The episode in question, which airs on Thursday, Nov. 13, has Steve Carell’s character, Michael Scott, getting a compensatory business trip to Winnipeg after his girlfriend Holly is transferred out of his life.

“Michael’s boss has given him this trip as a way of apologizing that they did this awful thing to him, so here’s this fantastic trip that he can go on,” says Farrell, 31. “And Michael builds up this trip in his head. It’s business class, he’s in a fancy hotel and it’s international, and he finds out very quickly that the stuff he built up in his brain is not as great as he would like it to be.

“It’s business class, but there’s no meal on the flight. He gets to the hotel and it’s not as great as it could be.

“And I thought Winnipeg might be a good representation of that,” Farrell says. “He gets all excited about going someplace… and this is just like Scranton.” [Winnipeg Free Press]
