Ummm, I totally disagree with Joe's comment. Merriweather is an amazing venue for big festivals. The last HFStival (which, I must mention I miss like crazy) was there and they had PLENTY of room for multiple stages, tents ect. The tree area provided nice shade in the scorching summer heat for people who needed a break from the sun. When you say you've attended concerts at Merriweather, you probably attended regular concerts that only opened the main stage area, but back behind the trees is another huge open field type of area with plenty of space. VIRGIN MOBILE needs to get it together because, like Joe, I've attended every year and I am soooo ANXIOUS TO HEAR THE LINE-UP!

I live in the DC area and have been to Merriweather. I've also been to all 3 Virgin Fest's. I have to say it would be a DISASTER if they had it a Merriweahter. While it is a GREAT venue for live music - it's well outside the city, with a very earthy, set in the woods feel - it just wouldn't work for something as big as Virgin Fest. I don't know how they could do more than 1 stage, let alone a DJ tent. And it would totally take away from the festival feel.
