The forthcoming album by Sweden’s mysterious jj, jj nº 3, will be released in the US on March 9, 2010 by Secretly Canadian in conjunction with Sincerely Yours. For those of you who may have missed it, jj’s most recent album, jj nº 2, earned a “Best New Music” nod from Pitchfork in 2009. Starting in March of this year, jj will embark on a North American tour in support of jj nº 3 with UK’s The xx, where I’m sure they will spend many a night arguing over who has the most minimalist band name and album name. jj will be headlining a show at The Knitting Factory on March 30, 2010 (Buy Tickets) and jj will be supporting The xx at (an as of yet unannounced date at a just confirmed date at) Webster Hall on March 31, 2010 (Tickets TBA). (The upside of all this is that I won’t be forced to see The xx at Terminal 5 when they open for Hot Chip.)
