Michael Gira at Florence Gould Hall (05/06/08)

When I started writing this post, Ticketmaster was showing Swans at the Bowery Ballroom on October 9, 2010 but now that event seems to be gone. According to the original listing, tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 14, 2010 at noon with an Amex presale starting on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at noon. Time will tell if this was the right date with a premature listing or something else. As for the forthcoming Supersonic Festival performance, that show is confirmed and here are the details:

Headed my Michael Gira, the infamous SWANS, have confirmed they will be making a rare live appearance at this year’s Supersonic Festival at Birmigham’s Custard Factory (22-24th October).

Swans are the first band to be announced for this year’s festival and weekend tickets are now available via See Tickets.

The recent reactivation of the band – with the line up of: Michael Gira; guitar, voice, mendicant friar act (original Swans), Norman Westberg: guitar (original Swans), Christoph Hahn: guitar (mid-period Swans and most Angels of Light ), Phil Puleo; drums, percussion, dulcimer etc etc (final Swans tour and most of Angels of Light), Chris Pravdica: bass and gadgets (Flux Information Sciences / Services/ Gunga Din) and Thor Harris: drums, percussion, vibes, dulcimer, curios, keys, etc… (Angels of Light, now also with Shearwater) – promises to be as formidable as the early, brutal and growling noise albums they made their mark with.

The band are currently in the studio recording their brand new full-length to be released via Young God later in the year. More details to follow.

UPDATE: After I finished writing this post, I did a little more searching and it looks Swans are also playing the Brooklyn Masonic Temple on October 8 with Baby Dee as part of the Blackened Music Series. Tickets for that show go on sale May 10 at 10AM.
