Showalter Says ‘Wet Hot American’ Sequel Is “Go”, MIB Disputes It

Bravo Tweet

Last night on Andy Cohen‘s celebrity gabfest, Watch What Happens Live, Michael Showalter mentioned that a Wet Hot American Summer sequel was a “go” with the whole original cast on board. This seemingly off the cuff remark caused a bit of a twitterquake and eventually prompted Michael Ian Black to tweet that, “it probably wasn’t true.” Well, who knows if it’s true, or it isn’t, but judging by last night’s Twitter response, there certainly still is some interest in the franchise. While all the original cast members have all achieved varying degrees success since the movie premiered in 2001, I’d imagine that landing Bradley Cooper for a sequel might be a little challenging.

UPDATE: Apparently Showalter told Michael Ian Black today that the sequel is NOT YET in pre-production, but everyone is basically on board to do it when the script is ready. [EW.com]

PS The cast of WHAS recently reunited at SF Sketchfest, you can see some photos from that event over here.
