Bobby Womack and Train are both playing the Rumsey Playfield at Central Park this summer on separate nights. Though he was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, Bobby is scheduled to play a free* CPF Summerstage show on June 7, 2012 in support of his new (Damon Albarn, Richard Russell produced) album The Bravest Man In The Universe. Bobby’s first album of original material since 1994’s Resurrection album will be released on June 12 via XL Recordings.

Aging Bay Area pop stars, Train, will be playing a (rental?) show a the Rumsey Playfield on August 27. Tickets for that show are not yet available, but I would expect an on sale date to be announced soon. Train’s new album, California 37, came out this week on Columbia, look for it near the top of the Billboard album charts next week.

* I think it will be free.
