Beatles fans rejoice. On October 9, Apple Films released a fully restored version of the long out-of-print classic fab four road movie, Magical Mystery Tour. The re-issued film comes in DVD and Blu-ray format and includes a remixed soundtrack (by Giles Martin and Sam Okell), newly filmed interviews, unseen footage, director’s commentary by Paul and a host of other special features.

The Beatles devised, wrote and directed their third film, Magical Mystery Tour, a dreamlike story of a coach day trip to the seaside. The film follows a loose narrative and showcased six new songs: Magical Mystery Tour, The Fool On The Hill, I Am The Walrus, Flying, Blue Jay Way, and Your Mother Should Know.

Apple Films have fully restored the long out-of-print, classic feature film and it’s now available worldwide on DVD and Blu-ray with a remixed soundtrack (5.1 and stereo) and special features. A special, boxed deluxe edition is also available.

All of the packages contain a host of special features, packed with unseen footage. There are newly-filmed interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and other members of the film’s cast and crew, as well as a director’s audio commentary recorded by Paul.

In other more serious Mac news, the young rapper is being sued for $10 million by Lord Finesse in a dispute over his K.I.D.S mixtape:

Veteran rapper Lord Finesse has filed a lawsuit against Mac Miller over the use of his 1995 track “Hip 2 Da Game,” reports Courthouse News Service. The suit accuses Miller of lifting the track for his own 2010 cut “Kool Aid and Frozen Pizza,” which appeared on his mixtape K.I.D.S. and became a breakout Internet hit for the then-rising rapper.

The outcome of this suit could have serious ramifications for the future of mixtapes and mash-ups in general.

Hey folks, if you’re keeping up with your TV award nominations news, you might have heard that Louis CK got a total of seven Emmy nods last week. While Louie the show missed out in Best Comedy category, Louis CK himself was nominated for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Louie, as well as Best Director and Best Writer. Louis’ paradigm busting comedy special Live at the Beacon Theatre was also nominated for four Emmys (it aired on FX after being available as a download only special), bringing his total to 7 Emmys, the highest of any individual in one year according to the A.V. Club.

FX Network Premiere Night (June 28, 2012)

It’s no secret that the FX Network has been on a tear lately in terms of bold and innovative original programming. Outside of AMC, I don’t think there’s any basic cable channel with as many excellent and/or exciting shows in their current prime time lineup, in fact, FX probably has more than AMC right now. Tonight (June 28), marks the premiere of two eagerly awaited returning series’, Louie and Wilfred, as well as the debut of two highly anticipated shows, Charlie Sheen‘s Anger Management and Russell Brand‘s Brand X. Having already sold over 92,000 tickets since he announced his tour on Monday, the premiere of Louie is probably the most buzzed about show of the night, but don’t miss Jason Gann and Elijah Wood in Wilfred, it was one of my favorite shows of last year. Though tonight’s show is being officially touted as the Season 2 premiere of Wilfred, FX brought the show back last week (without too much fanfare) for a special Sneak Preview episode entitled “Progress.” Tonight’s episode of Wilfred, entitled “Letting Go,” airs at 10PM on FX, you can still watch last week’s sneak preview episode online over here.

The Swell Season: Live at the Artists Den on DVD

As I’ve mentioned a couple of times already, Glen Hansard has a new album that came out last week entitled Rhythm & Repose. In support of his new release, he’ll be playing a short free show early this evening at Barnes & Noble Union Square, a small club show later on tonight at LPR, and then finally a big sold out show tomorrow night at the Beacon Theatre.

As I also have mentioned previously, the musical version of the film Once (another project that Glen is well known for), recently took home 8 Tonys including the award Best Musical. In cerebration of that momentous achievement the folks at The Artists Den are re-releasing the DVD, The Swell Season: Live from the Artists Den.

The DVD features the original artists who penned the music for Once, performing at the Good Shepherd Center Chapel in Seattle, WA in 2007, shortly before receiving their Grammy and Academy Award nominations.
