Radiolab Live “In The Dark” with Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich will be making its way to BAM on June 26, 2012. The folks at Radiolab are super excited about their live show – In the Dark. During the show, Jad and Robert will explore the dawn of sight and the evolution of the eye, hear from two blind men who couldn’t disagree more fiercely about what it’s like to live without vision, and relive a harrowing spacewalk with an astronaut. This show has science, suspense, comedy from Demetri Martin, rock and roll from Thao Nguyen, and even modern dance! ($110 value)

The Fixx

“Anyone Else” – The Fixx

The Fixx, the first band I ever saw live, is playing a show at the Knitting Factory Brooklyn on June 10, 2012 (Buy Tickets). According to Wikipedia, the current iteration of the band features the classic lineup with Jamie West-Oram on guitar, Rupert Greenall on keyboards, Adam Woods on drums and Dan K. Brown on bass. The Fixx even have a new album coming out (their 10th) entitled Beautiful Friction, which is set to be released on July 17, 2012 (as far as I can tell).

Few acts are able to sustain the longevity necessary to endure the strain of consistently recording, performing and cultivating music at a high level. Over the last three decades, the legendary English rock band, The Fixx has done just that. With its 1982 debut album, “Shuttered Room,” and their commercially successful album “Reach the Beach” they were able to capture enormous acclaim and recognition for their hits “One Thing Leads to Another”, “Saved by Zero”, “Red Skies” and “Stand or Fall.” Due to the political overtones in the songs, they were able to receive sufficient airplay on MTV, before it became a fixture for reality television.

Louis CK: Live at The Beacon Theatre (05/12/12 on FX at 10PM ET)

In case you were one of the few people who didn’t download Louis CK‘s Live at The Beacon Theatre $5 online only comedy special, you can catch it on TV starting this Saturday, May 12 at 10PM ET on FX.

The special, which was filmed in November at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan, went on sale at the comedian’s Web site in December at a cost of $5. It rapidly sold more than 220,000 downloads and grossed more than $1.1 million, more than enough for Louis C. K. to cover his production costs, pay bonuses to his crew, donate $280,000 to charities and persuade comedians and broadcasters to take the online-only model much more seriously. The FX broadcasts of “Live at the Beacon Theater” and the coming third season of “Louie,” which begins June 28, are technically free, provided you pay your subscription fee to a cable or satellite service that offers FX. TAL Live (05/10/12)

On Thursday, May 10th, 2012, we will perform an episode of This American Life on stage at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City and beam it live via satellite to more than 500 movie theatres around the US and Canada! We did a show like this in 2009, and were blown away when 50,000 people came out to see it. A lot of you have asked us if we’ll be doing it again.

So yeah, we’re doing it again!
