Tim Fite at Union Hall
I pulled a bit of a double header last night as I caught the tail end of Tim Fite at Union Hall right after the Tinkle show made its final bows. I’d been hearing about BV favorite Tim Fite for a few years now, but last night was my first time seeing him perform live. I use the word “perform” here deliberately as Tim, more than anyone else I have seen lately, (save maybe Elvis Costello), really embodies the spirit of a true showman. His set was a real spectacle full of energy, passion and absurdism. The crowd, (including yours truly), really ate it up, in fact, I think he may have set a world record for getting the most number of NY hipsters to sing in unison. Also, his stage set which included a large white, wooden glowing ghetto blaster and constant video projections was really fantastic. At first glance, I thought he was just looping a video of himself in a wheelchair for each song, but when I looked closer I realized that each video was actually perfectly synced up to the song he was singing. Tim will be back in Brooklyn real soon opening for Ben Kweller at Southpaw on July 30th, I strongly suggest you check him out.
