Best of Secter to Premiere in NYC

The new documentary entitled The Best of Secter and The Rest of Secter is having its New York premiere on November 8th at the 92nd St Y as part of the Reel Jews Film Festival. The film chronicles the career and exploits of maverick Canadian filmmaker David Secter whose first movie, Winter Kept Us Warm (1965), was the the first English-language Canadian film ever to be invited to the Cannes film festival. Not long after making his first feature, Secter decamped to a tenement on Second Avenue and 14th Street in New York and formed a film commune that was emblamatic of the times. The film includes interviews with some of the luminaries who were influenced by Secter including, David Cronenberg, Philip Glass, and Michael Ondaatje.
