Special on-the-road report here from vacation land. Last night I caught the Black Heart Procession at Richard’s on Richards in the heart of downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. The crowd was pretty thin and the band put on a decent, but uninspiring performance. The songs were alright, (I must confess I am a newcomer to BHP), but I thought they suffered from a bit of sameness, and dare I say, banality. The stage banter was basically non-existent, and I hate to say it boys, but when you headline the Bowery Ballroom on July 31, you better step it up a notch (or at least pretend like you are having a good time). Local talent, Great Aunt Ida was the opening act. They were minus a drummer, but the songs were played with good humor and were quite listenable. Here are some pics (yes, that’s a saw):
