Hey, I just got this new Sarah Blasko record, and I have to tell you, I’m really digging it. For my money, it kicks the ass out of anything Feist or St. Vincent has ever done (them’s fightin’ words, eh). Sarah Blasko is a singer/songwriter from Australia but her album isn’t in the typical singer/songwriter style at all, it’s got an edge. She’s kind of somewhere in between Portishead and Beth Orton (maybe with a little Radiohead thrown in for good measure). Sarah’s new album, (released in 2006 in Australia), entitled What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have, is coming out on Low Altitude on September 11 (though Amazon has the release date at July 10, 2007). I highly recommend that you check it out, and ya know, I usually hate everything.
If you want to see Sarah Blasko live and you live in New York, you’re in luck. Starting Friday, she’ll be taking up residency at the Living Room for the next three weeks. After that, she’ll head to LA for a one off gig before returning to Australia for a national tour.

Note: This is not my favorite track on the record, but it’s the current single I guess.
