Yoav - Charmed and Strange
Brooklyn Campfire is an evening of music, film, and art featuring the talents of indie singer/songwriter Jaymay and Israeli born, London based musician Yoav. Yoav is a songwriter and performer who uses an acoustic guitar and a special electronic sampling technique to create some really interesting and dark sonic landscapes. He’s currently being managed by one of Radiohead‘s managers and though his impressive resume already features a tour with Tori Amos, he is still relatively unknown in these parts.

Yoav’s debut album, Charmed And Strange, is coming out in January on Verve Forecast, here’s a little bit from the press release:

Charmed And Strange, the debut album from the London-based artist, incorporates myriad sounds: woozy vapor trails; clipped, modern club beats; Middle Eastern flourishes; flashes of quiet introspection reminiscent of Nick Drake; sonic landscapes that Björk and Beck would be proud of, and otherworldly sounding rhythms more commonly heard in the worlds of electronica and sci-fi movies. All crafted by Yoav, using only his voice, an acoustic guitar, simple effects and treatments”¦ and a lot of imagination.

Personally, I like what I hear. Tonight is your last chance to hear him before he heads back to the UK, and maybe your last chance to see him in an intimate venue like Union Hall!
