Arc Angels

Remember the Arc Angels? Well, in case you don’t, I’ll give you a short refresher. The band was formed in the wake of the tragic death of Stevie Ray Vaughan and it consisted of Charlie Sexton, Doyle Bramhall II, Chris Layton, and Tommy Shannon (the latter two members being from Vaughan’s backing band, Double Trouble). They released a critically acclaimed record in 1992 (which I know I owned at one time) and then subsequently broke up in 1994. According to Wikipedia, the band has been performing occasionally since 2002, but 2009 marks the first time since their breakup that the band (minus original bassist Tommy Shannon) will be recording new music, heading out on a major tour, and releasing a live DVD/CD set. Before they jet off across the pond to open for Eric Clapton, they are playing a one off show at the Filmore at Irving at Plaza on May 8 and I’ve got two tickets to give away to one lucky reader who emails me at contests@bumpershine.com and tells me the name of their favorite Arc Angels or Stevie Ray Vaughan song.
