Phoenix at MHOW (06/18/09)

What do you do when you’ve got to catch an early flight out of LGA the next morning and Phoenix doesn’t go on until midnight? Well, if you’re like me and you’ve got rocks in your head, music on your brain, and a bad case of FOMO, you cast aside all common sense and you go to the show. Do I regret it? Not in the least, in fact it was one of the best live shows I’ve seen in a long time (OK, well maybe I didn’t feel so great the next day, but at least I made my flight). Unlike superfan Music Snobbery, I can’t comment on all of the musical nuances of their performance (this was indeed my first time seeing them live), but I will agree that they did, “bring the party”. What I can say though is, and I know this sounds a bit cheesy, is that I thought the evening had a “magical” feel to it, there was just the right combination of euphoria in the crowd and manic energy on the stage that as I watched the band perform, it felt like I was witnessing everything come together for them right before my very eyes.
In case you missed out on tickets to the magical MHOW show, or the Terminal 5 show the next night, or the Summerstage show with Passion Pit, you might be happy to know that Phoenix has just added a second show at Summerstage on September 26, 2009. Tickets for the new show go on Amex presale starting June 24, 2009 at 11AM ET. General public on sale begins June 25, 2009 at noon (I think):
We’re incredibly happy to be able to give you a heads up that we’re playing a second show in New York City at Central Park Summerstage. It’s going to take place on 26th September and the fantastic Passion Pit will be our special guests.
We’ll have ticketing details up here as soon as we have them but they should be on sale at some point early next week. [WeArePhoenix.com]
