Big Comedy Update: TYF! Anniversary and Movie, Eugene Mirman Festival, Sweet in NYTimes and More

TYF 6th Anniversary!

There is a lot going on this week in comedy including the 4th Annual Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival and the 6th Anniversary of Liam McEneaney‘s venerable Tuesday night comedy show, Tell Your Friends! The lineup for TYF’s big anniversary show includes: Janeane Garofalo, Hannibal Buress, Christian Finnegan, Secret Guest Comedian (who is known for his love Hot Pockets), Secret Musical Guest, Sean Bones and Brief View Of The Hudson. If that wasn’t enough for you, Sketchfest NYC is presenting the New York premiere of Tell Your Friends! The Concert Film! on September 22 at the Paley Center (Buy Tickets).

Speaking of comedy milestones, Seth Herzog‘s long-running comedy show Sweet celebrated it’s 7th Anniversary last week with a big show at Webster Hall and a feature article in the NYTimes.

“Sweet” belongs to Seth Herzog: downtown stand-up staple, “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” warm-up, comedy world connector extraordinaire.

“He’s the perfect conduit between regular people and celebrities,” the comedian Craig Baldo said. “In his room they all feel normal — which they are.” Zach Galifianakis was here before “The Hangover,” as was Justin Long before “He’s Just Not That Into You.” The same goes for Donald Glover of “Community,” Whitney Cummings of the coming NBC sitcom “Whitney” and Kristen Schaal of “Bob’s Burgers.” [NYTimes.com]

Sweet returns to the Ella Lounge on the LES this Tuesday, September 13. This week’s Sweet lineup includes: Seth Herzog, Hannibal Buress, Julian Mccullough, Colin Jost and special guests! Also on Tuesday night, there will be a free MTV Comedy Showcase at the Marlin Room at Webster Hall with Can Soder, Reese Waters, Giulia Rozzi, Machael Che, James Adomian, Jessi Klein, and Jared Logan and host Andy Haynes.

Last but not least, the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival looms large over the latter part of this week with multiple shows happening at The Bell House and Union Hall. You can find the whole lineup for this year’s EMCF over here.

Last but not least, here’s a glimpse of what else is going on for the rest of the week:
