Yuna
Malaysian singer/songwriter Yuna put out a little EP this year called Decorate, which in my opinion, was one of the overlooked musical gems of 2011. After hearing it for the first time, I kicked myself because in waiting for so long to listen to it, I had missed out on all my chances to see her live. Well, that was a while ago and she actually played a small show last night at SOB’s, but she’ll be playing a much larger one in Times Square on Monday night as part of the MTV Iggy Best New Band Concert 2011 (seriously guys?). If you’re not in NYC, or you just despise Times Square with a passion (as you well should), the event which will be streamed online at mtviggy.com on Dec 12 from 4-6PM EST. In other related news, Yuna’s debut is due out on FADER Label in Spring of 2012 featuring production by Pharrell Williams and Chris Braide (Sia, Lana Del Ray, Paloma Faith). (I’m no psychic, but I’d look for her at The FADER Fort at SXSW 2012.)
