Wednesday Night Shows | A Lot To Choose From…

Wow, lots to choose from tonight, and heavy on the Canadian content.

Joe's Pub

Joe’s Pub | Great Lake Swimmers | 11:30 PM

Ontario’s Tony Dekker has made my favourite album of the year so far.

Joe’s Pub | Eleni Mandell | 9:30 PM

Eleni Mandell always puts on a good show. She’s in town supporting her new record, “Miracle of Five“.

Knitting Factory

Knitting Factory | The Noisettes, The Maccabees, Heypenny (Sold Out)

I actually got the chance to listen to most of The Maccabees record and I have to say, it’s pretty good.

Don Hill's

Don Hill’s | The Stills & Aderbat

Montreal’s The Stills will be back in town with Malajube for Canada Day at Prospect Park, but if you’re a fan, don’t miss the chance to see them at the (much smaller) Don Hill’s.

Gramercy Theatre

Gramercy Theatre | Rufus Wainwright with Joan as Police Woman

Judy Garland enthusiast and well known Canadian Rufus Wainwright is in town supporting his new record, “Release The Stars“, indie favourite Joan Wasser is opening up.

Speaking of Rufus Wainwright, there is an exciting new group on Yahoo called The Judy Garland Experience. The group features lively discussions, rare photo’s, and amazing audio files. This week we are featuring Judy’s complete 1958 concert at Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, a 1977 Salute to Kander and Ebb starring Liza Minnelli and Chita Rivera, a 1940’s Radio show where Judy sings Why Don’t You Do Right, I Remember You, You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To and others, Judy’s 1967 songs and conversations from and about Valley Of The Dolls, plus all sorts of other odds and ends, you will just have to check us out to see what else we have.
The group’s membership includes Garland family members, other celebrities, author’s, historian’s, film maker’s, and fan’s from every level, the only thing missing is you! So, please, stop by our little Judyville and check it out, you may never want to leave.
