Canadian director David Cronenberg has adapted his 1986 sci-fi film, The Fly, into an opera of the same name. The Placido Domingo conducted opera had its world premiere on July 2 at Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet and the U.S. premiere will occur on September 7 at the Los Angeles Opera. Oscar winning composer, Howard Shore wrote the music, (he scored the film as well), and David Henry Hwang wrote the libretto. [AP/Google]
