He was born in Newburgh, New York. Williams is the youngest of three children; His older brother is The Wire actor Michael K. Williams. After graduating from Morehouse College with a B.A. in philosophy, Williams moved to New York City to earn a Master’s Degree at New York University in acting. Here he found himself at the center of the New York cafe poetry scene.” [wikipedia]
Saul Williams has a (sort of) new record out now on CD called The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust which was produced by Trent Reznor. As you may recall, Saul released the album digitally on a pay what you will basis back in November of 2007. The album just saw its proper physical release (with 5 bonus tracks) on July 8, 2008 on the FADER label.
If you like Saul Williams, (and if you’re a regular reader, I know you do), you’ll be happy to hear I’m giving away a pair of tickets to Saul’s intimate performance tonight (July 16) with Telepathe at SOB’s.
