Dan Mangan at Union Hall (07/30/08)
Vancouver singer/songwriter Dan Mangan has been hard at work on a new record, and according to a recent MySpace bulletin, he’s just about got it finished and will be releasing it in July/August of 2009. Until then, he’ll be tiding us over with an online EP to coincide with his Canadian cross-country tour in April 2009:
I head to Toronto in less than a week to master my new album. My first one was recorded in the summer of 2005 – feels like a lifetime ago. I feel like this one is a hundred times better. I’m absurdly excited to get it out there and spread it around. The formal release will be in July/August – but I’ll be releasing an EP online and off-stage for my cross-country tour in April. At some point along the way, I’ll stream the entire record online so people who want to listen can do just that.
I somehow managed to wrangle some wonderful people to be involved – the album was mixed, engineered and co-produced by John Critchley, and lending their talents were Justin Rutledge, Veda Hille, Mark Berube and members of Elliott Brood, Said The Whale, Major Maker and Small Sins. (Jan 18, 2009)
I’m really looking forward to this album, I still listen Postcards and Daydreaming (Dan’s great first record) often.
