Red and Bundle

Looking for that special gift for the music fan in your family and/or life? Well, I can’t guarantee when this will reach them, but if you have relatives who don’t mind belated but awesome Chanukah gifts, I’m giving away two copies of the newly remastered editions of The Beatles Red and Blue albums along with two matching red and blue t-shirts. Contest ends Friday, Dec 17 at midnight, 1 entry per household, US residents only please.

In other related news former Beatle and current Knight of the British Empire, Sir Paul McCartney, is in town right now promoting the latest re-release of his hugely successful 1973 Wings album, Band on The Run. Paul stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last week, was the musical guest on SNL on Saturday night and tonight (Dec 13) he’s playing a private Sirius Satellite Radio event at The Apollo Theater. Later this month, Sir Paul will be playing two more similarly intimate gigs at the Hammersmith Apollo (Dec 18) in London and the O2 Academy (Dec 20) in Liverpool.

Beatles contest entry form, press release for the Red and Blue album re-releases and videos of Paul McCartney singing “Jet” and “Band on the Run” on SNL after the jump.

In Stores: October 18 (October 19 North America)

The September 2009 release of The Beatles’ remastered original albums and new boxed collections in stereo and mono was one of the year’s top entertainment events, breaking chart records around the world. Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music are pleased to announce that The Beatles’ original 1973 compilations, 1962-1966 (‘Red’) and 1967-1970 (‘Blue’) have been digitally remastered for worldwide CD release on October 18 (October 19 in North America). Both 2CD packages include expanded booklets with newly written essays by Bill Flanagan and rare photos.

The first Beatles compilations to be released after the band’s 1970 disbandment, the popular ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ collections each feature a selection of singles and album tracks written by the band’s members.

‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ have been remastered by the same dedicated team of engineers at EMI Music’s Abbey Road Studios responsible for remastering The Beatles’ original UK studio albums, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
