As I’ve mentioned a couple of times already, Glen Hansard has a new album that came out last week entitled Rhythm & Repose. In support of his new release, he’ll be playing a short free show early this evening at Barnes & Noble Union Square, a small club show later on tonight at LPR, and then finally a big sold out show tomorrow night at the Beacon Theatre.

As I also have mentioned previously, the musical version of the film Once (another project that Glen is well known for), recently took home 8 Tonys including the award Best Musical. In cerebration of that momentous achievement the folks at The Artists Den are re-releasing the DVD, The Swell Season: Live from the Artists Den.

The DVD features the original artists who penned the music for Once, performing at the Good Shepherd Center Chapel in Seattle, WA in 2007, shortly before receiving their Grammy and Academy Award nominations. Selections from the show aired on public television’s Live from the Artists Den, an innovative music series featuring acclaimed artists performing in extraordinary settings. The full concert DVD features more than 30 minutes of bonus material not seen on the television broadcast, including 4 songs featured in the musical Once.
