Rumors at The Bell House (12/03/09)

Field Music wasn’t there, but Pulsars, Wye Oak, and an all-star cast of indie rockers came out to celebrate the 25th birthday of Jack “Skippy” McFadden on Thursday night at The Bell House. The mystery headliner, billed as Rumors, was in fact the multi-talented Loser’s Lounge, who did a classic album set of Fleetwood Mac‘s Rumors with a rotating cast of singers on every track. For the most part, all the guest vocalists were pretty great, but Jen Wasner was a dead ringer for Stevie Nicks on “Dreams”, Kendall Meade‘s “Songbird” drew the most passionate fan reaction of the night (and probably broke some fire code regulations in the process), and Will Sheff‘s interpretation of “The Chain” really took the art of covering a song to another level. Last but not least, big props to the birthday boy who organized the whole thing and did his best turn as the singer from “Frank The Tank’s” wedding on “Go On Your Way”.
More pictures and a set list after the jump. (Field Music will be back at The Bell House in January 2010, all advance purchased tickets to the December 13th show will be valid at that time.)
