CMJ 2010
CMJ 2010

As predicted, I made it out last night to catch part of the NZ showcase at LPR (Lawrence Arabia, Street Chants, Ruby Frost, Kids of 88, but not the much hyped Zowie) and part of the MOG party at Brooklyn Bowl (DOM and Yo La Tengo). Though I certainly could have hit the clubs harder on Tuesday, I still feel kind of exhausted today (as PopTarts would say, “I am old”.)

Wednesday’s CMJ Picks (by venue):
Casxio – Ace of Clubs | 11PM
Rich Aucoin, Yukon Blonde, Young Rival – Arlene’s Grocery (Canadian Blast)
Sky Larkin – Bell House
Bad Books (early) The Knocks, Holy Ghost (late) – Bowery Ballroom
The Postelles – Bowery Electric | 11PM
Boom Boom Satellites – Bowery Poetry Club | 11:15PM
Brahms, Bear Hands – Brooklyn Bowl
Big Terrific Comedy w/ Gabe, Max and Jenny – Cameo
Tape Deck Mountain, Candy Claws, How To Dress Well – The Delancey
Baratunde Thurston, Hari Kondabolu, W. Kamau Bell (comedy) – Fat Baby
Hey Champ – Knitting Factory | 10PM
Autodrone – Lit Lounge | 10PM
Frankie and the Heartstrings, The Good Natured, Chapel Club – Littlefield
Leeroy Stagger – Living Room | 7PM
Wavves, Dirty Projectors, Phoenix – MSG (ltd badges)
Miniboone, Soft Black – National Underground
Tape Deck Mountain, Cloud Nothings, Blair, Braids, Beach Fossils – Rock Shop
The Dharma Bums – R Bar | 9PM
DOM, Marnie Stern, Wild Nothing – Santos Party House (Pop Gun)
Diamond Rings, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Apache Beat – Santos Party House (dwn)
Pearl and The Beard (early), Caveman, Milagres, Unicycle Loves You, La Strada, Hooray for Earth – Spike Hill (Jonny Leather/NYP)
Young the Giant, Brahms – Studio at Webster Hall
Hot Panda, Howlies – Trash
PS I Love You, Soft Reeds – Union Hall
The Dewars, The Drums, Surfer Blood – Webster Hall

There is really a wealth of options tonight, but I think I might have to catch Rich Aucoin early at The Canadian Blast showcase at Arlene’s Grocery and then probably head over to The Rock Shop for the great looking Force Field PR showcase. (Littlefield is another possibilty too, especially if there are long gaps between sets at The Rock Shop.)
