London’s Matthew and the Atlas, who were last here in June, are back in town tonight (11/10/11) at the Mercury Lounge with the North American tour of the UK’s Communion (Buy Tickets).

The debut Communion North American Tour will kick off on October 18 across nineteen dates in North America beginning at Hotel Café in Los Angeles and concluding in Boston at Berklee College of Music on November 12. The tour will feature London’s Matthew & The Atlas (longstanding members of the Communion family and regular Mumford & Sons tour buddies), Ohio born and Grammy-nominated The David Mayfield Parade and up-and-coming folk artist Lauren Shera.

Ben Lovett, Communion co-founder/Mumford & Sons notes, “We founded Communion as a way for people to get together and play music without all the hassle of dealing with money-grabbing venue promoters. No matter what the venue size, they’ve always been amazingly intimate occasions. We’re incredibly excited to be launching Communion in America, where not only are there literally thousands of excellent musicians that we want to promote, but it’s also a country full of passionate music fans that we want to feel part of the Communion experience. It’s a massive deal for us to expand, and we cannot wait to get cracking.”

Final Communion tour dates and more pictures of Matthew and the Atlas from The Rock Shop after the jump.

PS If Matthew and the Atlas don’t come out with an album on Glassnote in 2012, I will eat my hat. -ed.
