Hudson River Park Celebrates Summer in New York City
with Free Music Series Now on Pier 84

NEW YORK, April 2012 – Among New York City’s quintessential free outdoor summer concert series, Hudson River Park’s RiverRocks marks its 14th season this July and August with a new location on Pier 84, and performances by an array of established and breaking artists including Baltimore’s pop-art experimentalist Dan Deacon, Minnesota’s pop deconstructionist John Maus, Tacoma via Brooklyn’s emotional indie popster Oberhofer, San Diego’s garage rockers The Soft Pack, Virginia’s synth-pop group Wild Nothing, Montreal’s ethereal-electro pop artist Grimes, and Brooklyn’s shoegaze/reverb rock outfit DIVE.

Now staged on one of Hudson River Park’s newly constructed piers (Pier 84), the RiverRocks schedule is as follows:

Thursday, July 12 Dan Deacon and John Maus

Thursday, July 26 Oberhofer and The Soft Pack

Thursday, August 9 Wild Nothing, Grimes and DIVE

Located near the heart of Manhattan, Pier 84 is accessible at West 44th Street or West 43rd Street at 12th Avenue. The Pier 84 gates open at 6 p.m. for all RiverRocks shows, with opening performances scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. More information on the series is available at www.riverrocksnyc.com.

Entering its 14th summer, RiverRocks — Hudson River Park’s signature free concert series — continues to build upon its renowned reputation of annually presenting acclaimed and breaking bands on riverfront stages in New York City.

“While the accessibility and availability of truly free outdoor concerts in New York City changes from summer to summer, RiverRocks is a welcomed seasonal mainstay.” said David Katz, Vice President of Marketing & Events at the Hudson River Park Trust. “The City’s sophisticated music audiences trust us, and expect us, to present leading, influential bands on the Park’s stages. Due to the outstanding support of New Yorkers who come out and pack the piers for each show, we’re able to continue the summer pairings of great bands with great fans, now in a new location on Pier 84.”

In previous seasons, RiverRocks headliners have included The Antlers, Blonde Redhead, Brazilian Girls, Deerhunter, Deer Tick, Matt & Kim, Metronomy, Phosphorescent, Ted Leo + Pharmacists, Tune-Yards, and Yeasayer, among others.

Hudson River Park is a 550-acre, 5-mile-long waterfront park stretching from Battery Place at the southern tip of Manhattan all the way up to 59th Street along the Hudson River (www.HudsonRiverPark.org).
