Matt and Kim (Fader Label)
After meeting while taking classes at Pratt Institute in New York, they began performing in October 2004. They spent the next year performing around Brooklyn (their home base) as much as possible, and touring around the United States. In 2006 the band released their first album and stayed on the road, performing at high profile events such as The Siren Music Festival and Lollapalooza.
Born Abraham Orellana in Providence, RI, the middle child of two other siblings, he began drumming at the age of 3; and by the age of 10, he started playing the keyboard and producing his own music. AraabMuzik has worked with Dipset members Cam’Ron, Duke Da God, Hell Rell, and others, and shopped beats to Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Cassidy, Gucci Mane, Young Dro, and Fabolous.
Nacey (Mad Decent)
Nacey is one-third of Nouveau Riche—a monthly dance night in Washington, DC awarded Best Dance Night in the City Paper’s Best of DC issue in 2008. Known for his melodic sensibility and dynamic set routines, Nacey has shared the stage with the likes of The Count & Sinden, Kill the Noise, Nadastrom, DJ Craze, MSTRKRFT and Blaqstarr to name a few.
Activaire, devoted to developing custom music programs, blends the disciplines of design and architecture with DJ culture.
The Rose Center for Earth and Space is one of the most engaging and beautiful public spaces in the world. Inside One Step Beyond, attendees can check out complimentary screenings of the Passport to the Universe—the breathtaking Space Show that launches visitors on a thrilling trip through space and time, narrated by Tom Hanks, explore the Cullman Hall of the Universe, view a re-creation of the Big Bang, and see artifacts of space and science, while the DJs and live acts provide suitably otherworldly experiences.
The One Step Beyond series continues in February 2011.
